“Vibraciones del verano de Guatemala” NO.I-IV

$120.00

This is the whole series for sale including all four pieces.

I’m expressing my feelings and encounters of my time living in Guatemala. I did not use paintbrushes to paint “Vibraciones del verano de Guatemala” but rather authentic objects I’ve gathered during my stay. I painted with a rusty-ironed horseshoe inspired by the Guatemalan folktale that if you place it in front of your house, it would bring your family good luck. I painted with lime tree leaves and pieces of ancient cobblestone to yield emphasis in my time roaming the wobbly yet prosperous streets of Antigua Guatemala. I extracted bougainvillea flowers and Guatemalan coffee beans using them as layers of paint. I poured black paint throughout the various bright layers of the series, allowing gravity and nature to create its path. This is to represent my uncertain journey through Guatemala and my future to come in Spain. I don’t know what my ambiguous voyage will bring; however I will sprinkle gold dust along my journey and live it as fully as I can. A poco, a poco. Demonstrated in my paintings by the gold leaf woven into them that I’ve collected from bottles of Modelo during assorted nights at the quaint and enjoyably quirky bars of Antigua.

Using these raw objects, as my tools and this color pallet with playful line work are all the things I’ve felt meaningful and inspired by from my time during a Guatemalan summer.
